When we say "we", "us" or "our", we mean beritajadul.com. When we say "you", we mean every visitor and customer of our website.
"Personal data" means any information that can identify you directly or indirectly, such as your name, address, email address, phone number or IP address.

3. HOW WE COLLECT YOUR DATA
We receive personal data in three ways.
Information you give us. This happens when you place an order, create a customer account, sign up for our newsletter, contact us by email or phone, or leave a review.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, your browser automatically sends certain technical information to our servers, and we may use cookies and similar technologies (see section 8).
Information from partners. Payment providers, shipping carriers and, if you have given your consent, advertising and analytics partners may share certain information with us, for example the status of a payment, the delivery status of a parcel or statistics about how our ads perform.
If you would rather not share certain information with us, you do not have to. Please note, however, that we need some data to process your order. Without your name, address and email address, for example, we cannot deliver your parcel or confirm your purchase.

Depending on how you use our website, we may process the following categories of data:
Contact and identity data such as your first and last name, delivery and billing address, email address and phone number.
Order data such as the products you bought, order number, order date, prices, chosen shipping option and delivery status.
Payment data such as the payment method you used and the payment status. Full card or bank details are entered directly with our payment providers and are not stored by us.
Account data such as your login email and password (stored in encrypted form) if you create a customer account.
Communication data such as the content of emails, messages or calls you send us.
Technical and usage data such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referring website, pages viewed, time of access and similar information.
Marketing and preference data such as your newsletter subscription status, your cookie choices and, with your consent, information about how you interact with our ads and emails.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data, such as health data, religious beliefs or political opinions.
5. WHY WE USE YOUR DATA AND OUR LEGAL BASIS
We only process your personal data when the law allows us to. Below you can see what we use your data for and on which legal basis.

Analysing website usage and showing you relevant ads on other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, together with Section 25(1) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. Where we rely on our legitimate interests, you have the right to object (see section 12).
We do not use your personal data for automated decision making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
We never sell your personal data. We only share it where this is necessary for the purposes described above, and only with partners who are bound by data protection rules. These are:
Shop and hosting providers that run our online shop and store our website data on our behalf.
Payment providers that process your payment securely. They may carry out their own checks, for example to prevent fraud, and process your data under their own privacy policies.
Shipping carriers and our partner warehouses in Germany and France, which receive your name, delivery address and, where needed for delivery notifications, your email address or phone number.
Email and customer service tools that help us send order emails, newsletters and answer your messages.
Analytics and advertising partners such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only if you have given your consent through our cookie banner.
Tax advisors, accountants and authorities where we are legally required to share information, for example with tax offices or in response to a court order.
A buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged in the future. In that case your data would continue to be protected under this Privacy Policy.
Service providers that process data on our behalf do so under a data processing agreement in line with Art. 28 GDPR and may only use your data according to our instructions.
7. TRANSFERS OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN UNION
Some of our service providers, for example in the areas of payment, email or advertising, may be located outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. In these cases we make sure your data is protected by appropriate safeguards. This may be an adequacy decision of the European Commission, such as the EU US Data Privacy Framework for certified companies, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can contact us if you would like more information about these safeguards.
8. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are saved on your device when you visit a website. They help our shop work properly and, with your consent, help us understand how visitors use the site and show relevant ads.
We use the following types of cookies:
Necessary cookies. These are required for the shop to work, for example to keep items in your basket, to remember your cookie choices and to make checkout secure. They are always active. Legal basis: Section 25(2) TDDDG and our legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Preference cookies. These remember settings such as your language or region.
Analytics cookies. These help us see which pages are visited and how our shop can be improved.
Marketing cookies. These, including the Meta Pixel, allow us and our advertising partners to measure the success of our ads and show you offers that may interest you on other websites and social media.
Preference, analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you agree to them in our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings on our website. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Please note that some parts of the shop may not work properly if you block necessary cookies.
9. NEWSLETTER AND PROMOTIONAL MESSAGES
If you sign up for our newsletter, we will send you news about products, offers and helpful tips for you and your pet. We use the double opt in process: after signing up, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. Only after you confirm will you be added to our list.
Signing up is voluntary and is never a condition for buying from us. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of every newsletter or by sending us an email. After you unsubscribe, we will remove your email address from our mailing list. We may keep a record of your consent and unsubscription to prove that we acted lawfully.
10. SOCIAL MEDIA
We have profiles on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. When you visit these profiles or interact with them, for example by liking or commenting, the platform operator processes your data under its own privacy policy. For some data processing on our Facebook and Instagram pages, we are jointly responsible with Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. If you have questions about how these platforms handle your data, please read their privacy policies or contact them directly.
Our website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these external sites.
11. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA
We only keep your personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as we are required to by law.
Order and invoice data are kept for up to 10 years because German commercial and tax law requires this (in particular Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code and Section 257 of the German Commercial Code).
Customer account data are kept for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Newsletter data are kept until you unsubscribe.
Messages you send us are usually deleted once your request has been fully dealt with, unless we need to keep them for legal reasons.
Technical log data are normally deleted after a short period, usually within a few weeks, unless needed to investigate a security incident.
Once the purpose no longer applies and no legal retention period is in place, we delete or anonymise your data.
12. YOUR RIGHTS
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:
Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR). You can ask us whether we process your data and request a copy of it, together with information about how we use it.
Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR). You can ask us to correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR). You can ask us to delete your data, unless we are legally required to keep it.
Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR). In certain cases you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You can ask us to give you the data you provided to us in a common, machine readable format or to send it to another company.
Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR). If we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
RIGHT TO OBJECT (Art. 21 GDPR). Where we process your data based on our legitimate interests, you can object at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation. We will then stop processing your data unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. You can object to the use of your data for direct marketing at any time without giving reasons, and we will then no longer use your data for this purpose.
Using your rights will never lead to you being treated differently or less favourably.
13. HOW TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS
To use any of your rights, simply send an email to info@beritajadul.com or write to us at the address in section 1. To protect your data, we may ask you for information to confirm your identity before we act on your request. We will reply without undue delay and in any case within one month. In complex cases, this period may be extended by up to two further months, and we will let you know if this happens.
Your requests are free of charge. Only if requests are clearly unfounded or excessive, for example because they are repeated very often, may we charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act on them.
14. RIGHT TO LODGE A COMPLAINT
If you believe that we are processing your data unlawfully, you have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority. You can contact the authority in the country where you live or work, or the authority responsible for us:
Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
Gustav Stresemann Ring 1
65189 Wiesbaden, Germany
Customers in the Netherlands can also contact the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Of course, we would be grateful if you contacted us first so we can try to sort out the issue together.
15. CHILDREN
Our shop is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we learn that a child under 16 has given us personal data without the consent of a parent or guardian, we will delete it as soon as possible. If you think this has happened, please let us know.
16. DATA SECURITY
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our website uses SSL/TLS encryption, which you can recognise by the lock symbol and "https" in your browser's address bar. Please note that no transmission over the internet can ever be completely secure, but we continuously work to keep your data as safe as possible.
17. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features to our shop or when the law changes. The current version is always available on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last updated.
